The Red Bull Driver Search is a long-term program designed to find, test and support budding young American racing talent. The program was launched in 2002 to directly address the lack of American presence at the pinnacle of motor racing: the Formula 1 World Championship.
The Red Bull Driver Search mission is both to discover and support the "diamond in the rough" lacking the knowledge and contacts needed to embark on a career in racing and to scout and spot promising young racers with great potential and limited funding.

The long-term goal is to have a steady group of 3 to 6 American drivers racing in Europe, groomed to break into Formula 1 and compete for the Championship.

Arizona Open Qualifying is at Speedway
Open Qualifying gives young aspiring Arizona racers the opportunity to participate in the Red Bull Driver Search exclusively at Speedway Raceway. If you are between 13 and 17 years of age, and have dreams of becoming a professional racecar driver, this is your chance to prove that you can make it in the big time.

During the month of April, Speedway will be hosting Open Qualifying. All you have to do is head down to Speedway and sign up to participate. Once you are singed up just begin to post your best lap times at Speedway, lap times are taken from single race time sheets, special race formats do not apply. Lap Times will be posted at Speedway and on speedwayraceway.com. If you are one of the top ten fastest RedBull Driver Search participates on April 29th at 6:00pm you will qualify to race in Speedways RBDS Run-Offs which will determine the top three drivers to advance to the next stage of the RBDS. The top ten participates will be contacted by phone at 6:00pm on April 29th, unreachable participants will for fit there position and alternates will be excepted. The Run-Offs will be held at 11:00am on Saturday April 30th at a cost of $50 per racer. The Run-Off will consist of two races ( 5 laps of qualifying with a 15 lap race). The combined finishing positions from both races will determine the top three winners, lowest combined totals of your two finishing positions for the two Run-Off races. Each center will hold a competition to find the three fastest drivers.

RedBull Run-Offs
The Run Offs will be held in July and August, and up to 200 participants who have been successful at Open Qualifying will compete. Drivers will race in Rotax karts in an event run by Red Bull.

East Coast Run Off: F1 Outdoors, Boston MA - 19, 20 & 21 July

West Coast Run Off: Infineon Raceway, Sonoma CA - 9,10 & 11 August

Five karters will be selected from each Run Off event and invited to attend the Semi Final in Sebring, FL

SEMI FINAL
The Run Off winners and the scouted drivers will be invited to a test at Sebring International Raceway in September. The drivers will be evaluated in 2-liter Skip Barber Formula Dodge racecars. A team of European racing experts will preside over the event and select the drivers to travel to the Final.

FINAL
An elite group of racers chosen at the Semi Final will be taken to the Red Bull Driver Search Final. The Final will consist of a fitness test at the Red Bull Training and Diagnostics center in Austria and an intense two-day test at a prestigious European racetrack. The drivers will test in 2-liter European Formula Renault cars; the cars will be similar to those in which both Scott Speed and Colin Fleming raced and achieved remarkable success during their 2004 season in Europe.
At the Final, the judges will be looking for drivers with the skill and fortitude to join the American members of the Red Bull Junior Team. A driver will truly have to prove his worth to be chosen for this accolade.
